EN 62841-1 TESTS of hand-held tools, portable tools and lawn and garden machines powered by electric motors

Standard EN 62841-1 relates to electrically operated or magnetically actuated safety:

- hand tools (IEC 62841-2);

- portable appliances (IEC 62841-3);

- lawn and garden machines (IEC 62841-4).

The categories listed above are hereinafter referred to as "vehicles" or "machines".

Single phase a.c. or dc. rated voltage for appliances greater than 250 V and a.c. for three-phase appliances. 480 V. is not much.

Rated input is not more than 3 700 W.

Limits for the applicability of this standard to battery tools are given in K.1 and L.1.

This standard relates to the hazards encountered by everyone in the normal use and reasonably anticipated abuse of vehicles.

The tests performed within the scope of the EN 62841-1 standard are given below.

Function tests (power, voltage, current, cos?, frequency)
