TS EN 60204-1 standard covers the applications of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment and systems of machines that cannot be moved manually while in operation (including groups of machines working together in a coordinated manner).
The TS EN 60204-1 standard is intended to be applied to electrical equipment used in a wide variety of machines and groups of machines working together in a coordinated manner.
Risks combined with hazards due to electrical equipment should be considered as part of the overall risk assessment rules for the machine. This should specify appropriate risk reduction and necessary protective measures for persons who may be exposed to these hazards while still maintaining an acceptable level of performance of the machinery and equipment.
Hazardous situations may arise from, but are not limited to:
- Malfunctions or errors in electrical equipment resulting from the possibility of electric shock or fire caused by electricity,
- Faults or errors in the control circuits (or components and devices working with these circuits) as a result of faulty operation of the machine,
- Failures or errors in the power circuits as a result of faulty operation of the machine, as well as interruptions or disruptions in power supplies,
- Loss of continuity of operating circuits due to sliding or rotating contacts, resulting in failure of the safety function,
- Electrical disturbances such as electromagnetic and electrostatic, coming from outside or generated within the electrical equipment as a result of faulty operation of the machine,
- Discharge of stored energy (electrical or mechanical) as a result of events such as electric shock, unexpected movement that may cause injury,
- Surface temperatures that may cause injury.
Security measures; It is a combination of measures foreseen at the design stage and desired to be fulfilled by the user.
The design and development process must identify the hazards and risks arising from them. Where hazards cannot be eliminated and/or risks cannot inherently be sufficiently reduced by safe design measures, protective measures (e.g. shielding) must be provided to reduce the risk. If further risk reduction is required, additional means (e.g. awareness means) should be provided. Additionally, work procedures may be required that can reduce the risk.
The tests performed within the scope of TS EN 60204-1 standard are given below.
a) Verifying the conformity of electrical equipment with the technical documentation,
b) If protection against indirect contact is provided by automatic separation, the conditions for protection by automatic separation must be verified,
c) Insulation resistance test,
d) Voltage test,
e) Protection against residual voltages,
f) Functional experiments.
