TS EN 1751 Ventilation in buildings - Air terminal devices - Aerodynamic tests and test supervision of Dampers and Valves

TS EN 1751 standard covers the methods for testing and classification of dampers and valves used in air distribution systems with pressure differences up to 2000 Pa.

Tests within the scope of TS EN 1751 standard are as follows:

a) Leakage through closed damper or valve (see Annex C for classification),

b) Casing leakage (see Annex C for classification),

c) Characteristics of the flow/pressure requirement,

d) Torque: (see Annex A),

e) Thermal permeability: (see Annex B).

Sound testing of dampers and valves is outside the scope of this standard.

The above mentioned tests apply to:

f) Measuring the leakage through a closed damper or valve,

g) Measuring casing leakage,

h) Determination of flow rate and pressure requirements,

i) Measurement of torque characteristics (see Annex A),

j) Measurement of thermal transfer properties to determine insulation properties (see Annex B).

Certain aspects of the dynamic performance of dampers and valves depend on the air distribution system to which they are connected and are therefore difficult to measure separately from this system. These evaluations have led to the omission of situations related to dynamic performance measurements from this standard. Additionally, in common with other air distribution components, the results of tests performed in accordance with this standard may not be directly applicable if the damper or valve is located in a non-uniform flow area.
